A Media Valve, in both manual and automatic types, is designed for controlling the flow of abrasive materials. The manual type does not have a mechanism to stop the flow of abrasive media, which means that as long as the airflow continues, the media will not cease its flow.
On the other hand, the automatic type features a mechanism to cut off the flow of abrasive materials. Automatic valves are utilized in multi-operator pressure holding systems or systems equipped with Abrasive Cut-Off Switches (ACS). These switches interrupt the flow of media while still allowing air to pass through.
This characteristic is useful for blowing or cleaning the work surface. Based on the definition above, it can be said that many industrial valves are considered media valves, such as butterfly valves, piston valves, various solenoid valves, and more.
Not every valve works with various machines or abrasives. Furthermore, not all valves are compatible with an Automatic Cut-Off Switch (ACS).
The Automatic Quantum Valve (AQV) is employed in pressure holding systems and pressure release systems with abrasive cut-off. The Quantum Valve is easily adjustable and works with pneumatic actuators, maintaining precise settings from the closed to open position.
This type of valve can be used with mineral abrasive materials and consumable slag. It can be utilized with all common abrasives (including mineral, slag, or metallic) and requires approximately 80 psi to fully open the piston.
This standard is present in all Contractor Blast machines and can be integrated into classic machines equipped with ACS.
