Bladder Accumulator

The bladder accumulator is the most common hydro-pneumatic accumulator used. The bag is filled with nitrogen and is placed inside a welded or forged steel pressure vessel.

The bag is made from an elastic material (elastomer), for example, rubber. The pre-charge pressure of the gas can be adjusted through the gas inlet/outlet valve located at the top of the bladder accumulator.

If the bladder accumulator is installed vertically or at an angle, the gas side should always be at the top.

When pressure decreases, the compressed gas in the bag expands and pushes the stored liquid into the hydraulic circuit. At zero pressure, the bag may exit the pressure vessel. To prevent this, a spring-loaded valve is provided on the fluid side.

Bladder accumulators are used when high output power is required. These accumulators are designed for carbon steel materials and pressures up to 2000 psi.

Applications:

Energy and Pump Savings:

Reduction of the pump capacity needed, leading to long-term energy savings and reduced pump maintenance costs.

Surge Control and Shock Absorption:

Damping of pulsations and reduction of noise caused by pumps and “water hammer.”

Elimination of Sudden Pressure Drops:

Maintaining a constant pressure in a hydraulic system, such as a press line where multiple presses open and close at different times.

Thermal Expansion:

Compensates for pressure changes resulting from temperature changes in the hydraulic circuit.

Provides fluid reserve power for the shutdown operation of hydraulic equipment.

Features of the Bladder Accumulator

The bag has low inertia with a quick response, making it suitable for pulsation damping.

There is no risk of gas leakage. Oil does not come into contact with gas.

Simple installation, easy charging, and maintenance;

seamless and weld-free, 1.5 bar test pressure

Shell: Chrome-moly steel.

Bag: Made from standard nitrile rubber compounds and high-temperature Viton.
